It was a pleasure to Lepra in Parliament last night to mark World Leprosy Day and celebrate the centenary of Lepra.
That's 100 years of innovation and research, of advocating for taking away the segregation and stigma and supporting people affected by leprosy through prevention, diagnosis, disability aids and mental health support.
100 years on, Lepra's work is as important as ever. Due to read and lack of knowledge, there are over 3 million people across the world living with undiagnosed leprosy and every day, the disease causes more damage to their health, livelihood and future.
The great sadness - leprosy is entirely curable if diagnosed and treated early. This is hy Lepra's work is so critical.
It was great to be able to host and thank all those who have worked, work or support Lepra, a local charity to Colchester but making a difference globally every day.
