I am pleased to provide an update on the successes of our Covid-19 vaccination rollout in Essex:
- As of 15 February, around 345,000 people across Essex have received at least their first vaccination
- Vaccine take-up rates have been high - over 90% for the over 75s and over-80s, close to 90% for those aged 70-74
- Over 84% of the clinically extremely vulnerable across Essex have already been vaccinated
- As of 15 February, 63% of Essex care homes, 55% of non-regulated care workers and 47% of homecare workers have been vaccinated
- Essex County Council are working hard and providing funded support to help rollout the vaccine in hard-to-reach communities
- An army of volunteers have come forward from communities across Essex to assist our NHS with the vaccine programme. Essex County Council have helped to recruit over 2,000 volunteers to support the local rollout
I want to thank everyone in our NHS, emergency services, and volunteers for their incredible work in making such progress and I would urge residents to take up the offer of a Covid-19 vaccine when invited to do so.
